TransforMED partners with BizMed to provide medical practices with technology tool to help manage the NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition process
LEAWOOD, Kan. –TransforMED, a subsidiary of the American Academy of Family Physicians, has partnered with St. Louis-based health information technology and consulting company BizMed to apply technology to the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognition process.
TransforMED will leverage the BizMed Toolbox, a web-based software platform created by BizMed to provide practices on-demand access to their progress and task completion information associated with the NCQA PCMH recognition process.
TransforMED is an expert in medical home transformation that works with practices on their medical home initiatives, including assistance with the NCQA recognition process. To date, TransforMED has helped 222 sites achieve NCQA's recognition. Of these, 86 percent are recognized at Level 3.
"Practices commonly view the NCQA recognition process as an arduous task on top of the many challenges associated with PCMH transformation," said Dr. Terry McGeeney, TransforMED president and CEO. "The vision of BizMed to develop an online tool to help streamline the process and let practices focus on improving patient care versus paper work is a perfect fit with our commitment to the success of the primary care community."
The BizMed Toolbox PCMH module is preloaded with supporting documents the NCQA requires to achieve recognition. Practices can access the PCMH module through an online portal and upload supporting documentation to be reviewed and assessed by their TransforMED facilitator before submitting it to the NCQA for evaluation.
The PCMH module of the BizMed Toolbox was designed to reduce administrative complexity, save time, trim operational costs and manage the ongoing health care transformation process, according to BizMed Partner Margalit Gur-Arie. Practices can use the PCMH module as a tool to plan their NCQA recognition process, collect their documents in one place, track project progress and task completion, and more importantly, collaborate before submitting documentation to NCQA.
"By working with a visionary organization such as TransforMED, we expect to further streamline the administrative aspect of the NCQA recognition process," Margalit said, "allowing practice staff and facilitators that support them to focus on the actual care delivery model."
