ReachMyDoctor is a low-cost, low-overhead subscription service for basic e-services and secure communications between doctors and patients. Patients can sign up for the service inedependently of their doctor and can search the Provider Directory for doctors who participate in the service. Doctors sign up to participate and choose whether or not to utilize the separate Contact My Doctor e-Visit component.
Free services to patients incude online appointment scheduling, requests for referrals, online lab results, prescription refill requests, and an online form to ask the doctor's office billing and insurance questions. The newest version of the secure portal also offers a personal health record and a variety of "health logs" that patients and dcotors can use to collaborate in chronic care management. Patient participants pay $8.95 per month per care provider for the Contact My Doctor e-Visit service, which is provided to physicians" practices at no cost. The physician receives $6.95 of the patient subscription fee to reimburse for their professional time and opinion.
