William D. Soper, MD, MBA

Bill Soper, a Board Certified Family Physician practicing in Kansas City, Missouri, is a member of the Board of Managers of TransforMED, a subsidiary of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Soper began his term with the Board in June, 2008.

In addition to patient care activities, Soper owns a practice management company, Medical Data Services, which provides practice management, management consulting and billing services for some 25 private practices of varying sizes and specialties.

Soper has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians since 1976 and is past president of both the Kansas City and Missouri Academies of Family Physicians. He has been a member of the Board of Editors of Family Practice Management since the publication's founding.

Dr. Soper's special interests include electronic health records (he has had a paperless office since 2000), medical office design, practice efficiency and payment optimization. He is very concerned about diminishing physician reimbursement and increasing practice costs and the resulting difficulty in recruiting physicians to Primary Care.  He sees TransforMED as a tool to help reverse those trends.

Soper received his undergraduate degree from Baker University and is an Honors graduate of the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Medicine. He also holds a Master's in Business Administration from Rockhurst University. Dr. Soper is in private practice in Kansas City, Missouri, dividing his time between patient care, medical organizational consulting and TransforMED.
