Practice Enhancement Facilitator

Shelly Phinney , MBA

In her role with TransforMED as a Practice Enhancement Facilitator, Shelly Phinney assists family medicine practices with implementing the TransforMED Model of Care. She is one of six facilitators implementing this model with practices around the country, utilizing data and observations gleaned from TransforMED's National Demonstration Project (NDP) TransforMED initiated the NDP to better understand the process of change in primary care practices moving toward the goal of becoming Medical Homes. TransforMED facilitators have developed expertise in working with practices in many areas of focus such as change management, practice finance, team-building, leadership development, practice efficiencies, developing and understanding practice metrics, and more.

Shelly Phinney's healthcare experience ranges from positions in Patient Accounting and Patient Registration/Scheduling to Clinic Management and Operations. Shelly is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt which involves expertise in process improvement methodology. Being a Black Belt in Six Sigma is an impressive achievement and Shelly uses this expertise in data and statistical analysis to measure and improve operational performance. Shelly has displayed proven knowledge and expertise in implementing Lean and Six Sigma in healthcare settings.

Shelly is motivated by helping practices make improvements that impact patient and staff satisfaction. As a Practice Enhancement Facilitator, Shelly has the unique opportunity to apply her expertise to work with practies to see positive changes on a regular basis.

Shelly holds a BS in Management from Park University and an MBA in Healthcare Administration from Avila University.
