In fact, she most recently served as project manager for the Future of Family Medicine project, a collaborative effort between seven family medicine organizations which resulted in several recommendations including a proposal for a new Model of Care for family medicine. Ms. McMillen also served as assistant staff executive to FFM's Task Force Six which considered and developed financial modeling of FFM's proposed new model of care. Ms. McMillen also worked with the team that developed the business plan for development of the entity now known as TransforMED which has a mission to help family medicine practices transform to the new model of care. As executive director of TransforMED, Ms. McMillen will oversee the management of the National Demonstration Project, the initial focus of which is to provide a "proof-of-concept" of a new Model of Care in 18 family medicine practices of varying sizes across the country. These pilot practices will implement fully all elements of the TransforMED model and will undergo thorough, real-time evaluation to determine empirically the model's impact on the quality of care and business performance. A final report is expected in early 2008. |
